We currently have an open calendar…we need volunteers to help with the task of compiling all the upcoming local events so we can get involved in the community. The upcoming Holiday, if any of you would like to put together a meeting to do some research on events in our community see a facilitator at this weeks meeting, or email me your ideas!

We should be closing in on the approval of our 501C3 status, the application is at the state government level.

OYA Safe House Committee:

OYA's future plans with the addition of our 501C3 Status, is to provide a 24/7 safe house for youth that have been pushed out of their homes due to their sexuality. A safe house that will not only provide a place to sleep, but counselors, computer labs, scholarships, all the resources to make the best out of a bad situation, a place where the youth of today can become the future leaders in our communities tomorrow. We are looking into modeling our organization similar to the Lambert House in Seattle, and possibly taking a field trip to Seattle to see how Lambert House gets things done, for more information, go to http://www.lamberthouse.org to spark your creativity.
