The Orlando Youth Alliance is
a safe space for GLBTQ youth to gather and talk about their issues and concerns as well as meeting other gay youth. We were
formed in 1994 as the Delta Youth Alliance, and though we have changed names, we have been a safe place for GLBTQ youth for
well over a decade. The Orlando Youth Alliance has a vital purpose in the Central Florida community. OYA is a peer based youth group with members ranging from the ages of twelve to twenty. TEAM OYA not only participates in their own fundraising campaigns, we also combine
our forces to be advocates in the community by volunteering to assist other organizations and causes. TEAM OYA actively
does all kinds of community service, car washes, and lobbying for causes that affect the GLBT community, with emphasis
on issues related to youth.
Currently meetings are held
at The Closing Agent on the corner of Summerlin and Central downtown Orlando at 6:15 p.m. every Tuesday evening for one hour. Our address
is 11 N Summerlin Avenue, Orlando,
32801
Orlando Youth Alliance has a
growing resource of adult facilitators; the facilitators are community involved individuals that provide adult supervision
during events and meetings. The facilitators are here to offer leadership, mentoring, and to answer questions or concerns.
OYA is a peer based organization, though there is adult leadership, the group revolves around you, your issues, and your agendas,
not those of the facilitators.
